With my 1st cockatiel I would whistle for up to 3 to 4 hours a day. I work out of my home. I moved the cage close to me and kept the door open. One day he got tired of sitting' on his perch and decided to perch on me. This was about 2 or 3 weeks into the cycle. I haven't hand fed much but the whistling sure did help. Best of luck!

corey has the right idea. Outlaw tells many a tale of luring skittish birds into her good graces by just sitting near, apparently ignoring the bird, and eating peanuts or crackers. Eventually the curiosity overcomes the fear, and out they come!
