Laura, Yes! Humphrey is a Princess of Wales. There are other names for her species - Princess Parrot, Rose Throated Parakeet, Alexandra's parrot, etc. The two most common names are Princess of Wales Parakeet and Princess Parrot. I used the latter because when most Americans think of parakeets, they think of budgies. So I use that name all the time for the sake of the the non-bird people. Humphrey has a nice dusty blue head. The males have an even bluer head. I wonder if the centerfold is a male or female? The males have an "extension' of sorts on the third primary flight feather.
I'm glad people can see a professional picture of a POW. The pictures I take of Humphrey never capture the subtle beauty of her colors. I wish I could get BirdTalk over here! I think my mom and my brother get it - I'll check and have them save it. Thanks for the info and for thinking of us! Michele and Humphrey
