Cage for a Timneh Gray With Playtop? Your Thoughts Appreciated.
Anyone have this cage?
Lani Kai LodgeTM Playtop32" x 22" x 64" Free Shipping!: BIRDCAGES4LESS.com Anyone have cages from birdcages4less? Any thoughts? They are having free shipping now. Also am researching cages with someone from this board who very graciously offered to help, but throwing this cage out there as one option as well. Any idea on the size and options available on this or any other cages suitable for a Timneh Grey, with playtop (to save space on having a separate playtop and separate cage)? What do you have? Tom said he is happy with his Avian Adventures cage, do any of you have a cage you like, and why is it good? Space is an issue, and ease of cleaning is an issue (I can't easily wheel it outside and hose it down, for example, must clean it indoors by hand). Important too are options that might contain some of the gleeful mess, since I live in a NY apartment. A better cage will be more fun for Beaker, give him a better playtop option, and may contain his fruit fiesta a little better. He's very active and enjoys his toys! So he needs room for more toys and more play. Also the seed skirt appeals to me because it might contain the barrage of little pieces of gooey stuff that get joyfully flung around - any thoughts? I am thinking of getting a mini wet/dry shop vac at Home Depot this weekend to help with daily cleanup, I bet that would be nifty - they are like 20 bucks.

I think the one in the link is fine! I have never gotten a gace from there but I have heard other people getting one's from there and they are good quality.
Hope this helps.

I have ordered from them before, not cages, but I got all the stuff and I think it came in a timely fashion too, but I can't remember (it was over 2 years ago).
I like that that cage has bars all the way to the tray, so that you can take the grate out if you want (I hate grates, they just collect poo! I don't have any in my cages). I'd recommend a gray cage for dusty birds - darker colors are going to look a lot dustier, and white cages are impossible to keep looking clean! I don't like seed guards - they are cumbersome, hard to clean, and I always manage to bump my shins into them! What I did was buy some vinyl flooring at Home Depot (they had some rolls of it for like $10 or $20) and cut peices for under my cages to keep the poop and mess off of the carpet. The vinyl can then be sprayed with cleaner and wiped down. Some people like seed guards though, so you can always see if you like them or not once you get the cage.

hum, not sure I can place the brand of cage......just becareful with which line you choose. you want one that will be around next week for parts and such. I have seen so many fly by nights in my years.
I have the AA cages Tom has. here is a pic. Last photo on the page....I have both playtop and dometop. The Grey Roost only complaint is the color....red is hard with dusty species. and no on the cage skirt. I have seen too many greys be hurt when they fall and clip them or get caught in the corner....serious damage that usually needs several surgeries to correct.

My two (CAGS) have got a playtop cage...
![]() ![]() They make great use of the playtop. They're not clipped and are free to fly but mainly choose to be on the cage when we're in the living room (most of their out time is in the dining room). I wouldn't bother with the skirts. Falling isn't an issue with mine not being clipped but to be honest they chuck their mess further than any seed catcher could reach! I think they're more of a hindrance than a help. |

I haven't got a clue what it is actually!
When I was visiting my breeder over the summer months to spend time with Mojo and Shinda she mentioned she was buying a new cage for her Macaw and asked me if I'd like to buy his current cage (as pictured in my previous post). I bought that cage for the bargain price of £100!! I'll let you work out how much that would have been in $ at the time I bought it in early summer but it was a great bargain! |
