Bottlebrush is one of the safe trees. I use the flowers for the lorikeets and ringtail possum. Nothing wrong with the flowers, pods or leaves for any parrot. It's not a tree I'd go hacking into then hoping it grows back. There's a number of varieties. I'd just go with a colour that fits in with your yard. There's some amazing reds, oranges, pale yellows and gorgeous pinks. I'm also growing a miniature potted one in my bird garden just for the flowers for the nectar lovers here.

Lemon bottlebrush aka Callistemon citrinus is an Australian native. It's supposed to be completely safe, and some Australian species use it as a food source.

I planted a dwarf bottlebrush in a semi-shady area a couple of years ago but it wasn't doing well. I thought that maybe it wasn't getting enough sun so I moved it recently. In a few months I'll find out how it stands up to the full glare of the Arizona sun!

bottlebrush Plant in full sun for best show of color. Most soils are suitable if they are well drained. They are drought tolerant and handle the heat in australia

I don't even know what a bottlebrush tree is. LOL. but if that's a picture of one, it sure is pretty. I'm terrible with plant names.

Ashling: I live in the USA -- sadly for me, we don't have them growing everywhere. T-T

Would Bottlebrush grow well in sandy soil, or would I have to replace it?
