Question Greater Crested Sulfur cockatoo

I have a question I have a 4yr old Greater Crested Sulfur Cockatoo "Sugar Bear " that is picking his food up with is feet the watching it as it all falls down sometimes it looks like he is trying to get it on his back has anyone dealt with this before ? Is this a normal thing or do I have a weird bird LOL ????

Seems a lot of cockatoos do this. It is a version of "anting". Ginger takes, food. wood anything, hides it under her wings, or she lays something on her shoulder then tries to raise her wing and preen and when whatever it is falls she catches it and does it all over again!

My mothers cockatoo is constantly taking food and throwing it, on himself or at us. She really loves when he soaks it in his water first!

Ok I got it they are just weird birds that's cool he fits right in with the family LOL

They are weird birds, that is for sure, lol. My GSC2, Wesley, is constantly doing things that make me laugh. I don't think you could figure out a cockatoo if you tried.

omg i thought my Bindi was crazy too! She picks food up, holds it over her head and drops it, and tries to catch it when it goes past her beak....its constant when shes dyign for attention....its obsessive compulsive i think....
