(Gasp) I'm so excited for you. You'll absolutely love her. Yes. macaws are much much different from toos. I don't know if the head thing is a nervous thing or just an "expression" of hers. They all have their own little "body language" sometimes. Newt does the "reboot" which cracks me up.
She sounds like she's a sweetie and since you got the "oook", sounds like you're in. congrats! Tamaran's right. Trust me, that big beak honestly hurts less (if that's possible) than a smaller beak. I've been bitten worse bya cockatiel than a macaw.

Cola is talking up a storm this morning!
Oh she has the sweetest voice!!

I fed her breakfast and she is out on the play stand. No problems! WOOHOO!!!!

I was warned that she has been known to bite hard if she doesn't know you. She cracks brazil nuts with ease. I still have to work at not thinking about it. I am just trying my best to read her and take it slow. I like her a lot. I think she is a really good bird.

Oops...typo. Make that 120 macaws. Either way it is a lot.

Cola is really the talker! I have just died laughing at the birds today. I take it she REALLY likes grapes. She says "Grape? Want a grape? Uuummmm, it's good!" She sang for me! Laaa la la laaaaaaaaaHHH! She helps Stella tell the Too's to shut up. She has an evil witch laugh.

I have even held her on my bare arm today. She did the baby bird wing shake and head toss. Who could be afraid of that! I think she is moving right in!

OMG! Glenda I just caught this thread! Congrats! Boy her situation sounds allot like Callys. His owner/breeder was a woman who died and hubby couldnt keep up. Wonder if its the same?? Then he went to live somewhere else for ten years to breed but didnt want to . Actually I think someone screwed up. Im getting him DNAd soon. Me thinks he is a she. That would explain ten years of clear eggs from the mate, lol. he acts like a she. So where was Cola from??? Do you know the womans story? I was told Cals original owner died of cancer and had him from an egg for thirty years.

Glad to hear things are going well with you and Cola. Greenwings are great birds and I'm sure you'll be posting more great stories about the two of you.
