i think my birds leg is broken

my cockatiel had babies, and they are now about 7 weeks old.. we put some soft napkins in the basket where she lays eggs and one of the babies somehow got its leg tangled into the napkin. we check them every morning and feed them. so this had to happen sometime today, after we checked them. so my question is what can i do to help the bird, should i tape its leg? is there anything i can give it to help for pain? it keeps squaking. my mom said that she isn't gonna take it to the vet.

Please tell your mom it is imperative you get that poor suffering creature to a vet as soon as possible. No if ands or doubts.

If you can't take the bird to a Vet ASAP then you need to find someone else to take him into their home and get him to a Vet so he has a chance!!!!!! If you post your location someone on here might be able to offer him a home. Please don't let him suffer, give him the love and care you would want for yourself!!!!

Please don't tape the leg, you'll most likely do more harm than good, however well intended and may cause permanent disability.

As said, your Mum MUST take the bird to a vet as soon as possible! Poor baby will be in agony if it's leg is broken! Please get her to read this.

In the UK, in the US too I would imagine, withholding veterinary treatment for a pet in need is against the law so please get her to do the right thing for the baby

Your mother needs to realize that birds feel pain and that an animal that is suffering needs a vet.

This is "cruelty" to not seek appropriate veterinary care for a broken bone.

I know that times are really tough, and vet bills can be frightening. However, you may be able to find a breeder or rescue who can adopt the bird. Even call your local animal control -- they will be sure this baby gets attention and is freed from pain. If you will PM a mod with your location, maybe we can help you find resources. I am so sorry for your trouble; please don't blame yourself for the accident. We will do everything we can to help you find an answer.

I think that it was very nice how you said that and helpful.

Does anyone know how old this person is asking for help?
