Angry Stupid CL people...grr

the lady was only asking for some help or advice and this guys post was totally un-necessary...at least she was tryng to help her bird instead of getting rid of it..

her post: Does anyone specialize in bird behaivor?

I need to get help advice for my bird. He's having some terrible behaivor issues. I want to fix this. If someone can help me, or suggest someone who I can talk to please let me know. Thank you.

his post: RE: Does anyone specialize in bird behaivor? - (On no)

Birds have so many behavioral problems because they are not meant for cages, or small spaces. (Um.... they fly?)
Please....
if we put our dogs in cages that small we'd be arrested. And, dogs don't fly!

Birds should not be pets, and not caged. To all of you bird people outraged???
Let me lock you up for a year, in a very small cage!
We'll see how your attitude is.

i was really tempted to write to him.. but if you want to here's the email... comm-959726758@craigslist.org

and here's hers if you wanna help her out too.. comm-959636549@craigslist.org

"and most birds are out all day "

actually, I disagree. I think most birds are in their cages all day. However, I'd LIKE TO BELIEVE that people really do care for the most part.. they don't... WE on this site do, and lots of people care about their birds, but just as many are stuck in someone's home as a piece of furniture/decoration and never let out. Lots of birds have cigarettes smoked right in their faces, food fed straight from people's mouths, and other 'human' problems that cause behaviour problems for them. I have 7 birds (as ONE person, in one part of the world.) that have all come from bad situations. There are 48764876 more birds in bad situations still out there.

I'd love to believe that people don't mistreat their birds, but I can't.

This person (who angrily responded to her ad) was probably someone who had a bad bird experience. Like me, they've probably seen some CRUEL things happening to a parrot.

Just my .02

At any rate, I think his response to her was ridiculous, simply because she was trying to get help for her bird. As long as someone is trying and has good intentions, I think that needlessly flaming them is uncalled for.

^I think because all of this is over the internet, certain people feel a sense of... anonymity about posting hurtful/angry things.

Whatya bet that twit has a PETA bumber sticker....
As has already been stated, that's quite a nasty thing to post to someone looking to help their FID.
It's like asking to help solve a behavioural prob in a dog, only to be told it's cruel to keep a dog on a leash.
"but he's only on leash for so long every day"

I agree that most birds are probably in their cages all day, but knowledgeable & caring owners (like us) let them out for as long as possible. Cruelty & neglect are not private property of us bird owners.
We need to believe we are helping make a difference so that everyone who takes responsibility for a feathered life, knows what we understand to be important for the bird's physical & mental well-being.

The same argument that jerk tries to make about keeping birds in cages could be said for all those poor dogs locked up inside their owners homes all day long...only to be let out into a small fenced yard or dogrun for the rest of the evening.

Gee that's a sin because didn't the Big Dude upstairs make dogs so they could run around, peeing & crappin wherever they wanted?????

LOL too funny! funny and true.. i think it could be applied to pretty much all animal cases birds, dogs, cats, reptiles, amphibians, even fish; all being in spaces "too small" for them.. but every animal should be adequately housed, properly cared for and allowed time to excerise and play, then they're all happy :) (not that im condoning keep any animal in a cage/habitat too small for them, just pointing out any situation can be viewed as such)

...and that post was flagged :)

Yes, this.

Has someone sent the OP a link to BB? Maybe s/he could find some help here.
