Margarine and Fat
Hi Everyone, we have just moved from South Africa to the United Kingdom, and all of a sudden my Grey called Dodi is crazy for yellow margarine and fat. I suspect our diet must have changed dramatically. we are definately eating less red meat. whe we have red meat he goes crazy for the fat and everytime i have a slice of bread he drives me nuts trying to pick off the margarine from the bread. he attacks the butterdish.
has anyone seen this before? is a lot of margarine bad for him? i imagine so... |

I would definitely not let him eat the margarine as it is just plastic in a tub. It isn't even real ingredients, just chemicals to make your brain think it is fat. yuck.

it's not wise to let them eat things that are unhealthy; it will shorten the lifespan of the bird and may cause health problems later on.

I wouldn't let him eat margarine. For the matter, YOU shouldn't eat margarine! Look up about it and you'll swiftly learn why. Nasty, nasty stuff. Regular butter is probably not so good for birds either.
If I remember correctly, African greys benefit from red palm oil in their diet. You might try locating some and see if that helps his cravings. :) |
