My christmas wish is coming true!

Okay so do yall remember me posting about how I acquired Valentine my Galah? If not I got her from a lady that had 13 birds and recently lost her husband and is now running their business on her own. She gave Valentine to me because she doesnt have time for her birds anymore.

Well she told my Dad yesterday that she is willing to give me all of her birds She knows how well I care for Valentine and that I am aware of how to care for the different species.

Which Includes:
2 b&g macaws
2 african greys
4 cockatoos (two u2, moluccan, goffin)
2 bluefront amazons
1 sengal
1 conure
Im forgetting what the others were

However I cannot possibly take all of them. I will not take more than I can properly care for and devote time to. My mom will probably be taking what I cannot care for.

One of the birds that I definetly want to take is a U2 that is a plucker. He has no chest feathers. His name is charlie and he is very sweet. I know that she will have a hard time finding him a home because of that. She has spent thousands on trying to get him to stop plucking to no avail.

I will not be getting all of them at one time but over a period of time as it is hard for her to let them go. She wants to do what is best for them though.

Any advice on having mulitiple species. I will probably be giving a home to the african greys and one of the macaws as well as little charlie.

Wow, that's a lot but what a complement to you that she would entrust you with a flock she appears to be very committed to caring for.

Yes it was a compliment for sure. I have also told her that she can come and visit any time she wants. I have been emailing her and calling her with updates on Valentine so she is comfortable with how they will be cared for. If for some reason I cant take care of them they will go back to her. She was a great parront but due to life issues and her own health decline she cant possibly give them what they need anymore. It must be hard to let them go and that is why I offered to let her see them anytime she wants.

I have been praying for an african grey so this is an answered pray for me!

^praying for African Greys has worked for me! It tooks years of wishing on first stars and wish chips, dreaming for hours about it, and.. you get the picture.

She has a bird room where she keeps all of them. It was so noisy my ears would ring after leaving there.

Astrid660 (i dont know your real name...lol.) How do you house your birds? Are they all in one room? I know that they cant all be out at the same time for safety reasons, anything else I should know about having a large flock?

My entire bird experience has come through prayer. The first time I saw a conure for sale I prayed for God to let me have one. I had a dream about holding a large bird in my hand and two weeks later I had my conure. Not only did God hear my prayer but gave me a dream to let me know one was on the way. A week later, Valentine came into my life. I have been praying for an african grey for a few weeks now. The night before last I had a dream that I was sitting in the floor and I looked down and saw like 5-6 birds on the floor beside me, then a finch landed on my knee. I was like wow look at all these birds! Then yesterday I got the call that I was gonna be getting not only the african greys but several more birds. God is awesome and I love how he shows me things that are gonna happen in my dreams.

Congratulations! Maybe if you found out if any of these birds are playmates that will help you make the decision about who to keep, it may also make the transition easier for the birds and you.

That is something that I hadnt thought of, Thank you merlin! I will definetly be checking on that. Valentine is gonna be so surprised to see some of his old flock. I know for sure that Valentine and the moluccan used to play together and were bird buddies. (not sure that was safe) The greys are bonded to each other and are cage mates so they have to come together.
