Rainbow Lorikeet questions

Hello!
I just got my cute little rainbow lorikeet Wenzday a few weeks ago and I was wondering when or if they should get their nails clipped?

Also, I've had him for almost 3 weeks now and sometimes he randomly goes a bit crazy it seems, he runs around quickly whilst flapping his wings and screaches really loud, he only stops when I hold him to calm him down. It is at the randomest times, he can be playing and having fun for 5 minutes and then he does it or just be in or on top of his cage and do it. It's not everyday either, and I thought soemthing could scare him but I've never noticed anything strange.

Other than that he's really good! He even fetches his toys and brings them back and drops them on command! =^.^=

He's probably learned quickly that having those fits get you to pick him up and scratch him so he does it for attention. I'm not sure about all birds but I've heard the Toos at least have moments during the day when they just go 'crazy bird', as we call it. They screetch and swing their heads around. Just happy to be alive. :)
As for the nails, if you have good textured perches that they spend a bit of time on, it should keep their nails in check. Only super sharp pointy nails should get filed down if it's stabbing you.

I've got 2 of these lunatics. What you're saying is perfectly normal for a rainbow lorikeet. When our guys were inside I'd hear Pip screaming hysterically, go check to find him lying on the bottom of cage screaming at his feet. You'd say Pip to get this attention and get this what? look from him as he'd bounce over to you.

They are completely crazy birds. Watch the wild ones outside swinging around in the trees and they don't stop. He's just enjoying life and making sure everyone knows about it. Best thing is just let the behaviour go. He's only just getting into the habit of getting attention for being a psycho nutter won't take too long to get out of the habit.

Don't worry about the nails too much. With them being so dark cutting them yourself could lead to problems as you can't see the vein running down. Better to try and find a vet who you can get to do it.

Enjoy your lunatic, I know ours have given us hours of entertainment and giggles.
