Nope. None of the email was me. It was posted as I got it.

As far as the laws go, I am FOR animal WELFARE but NOT Animal RIGHTS!

There is a big, big difference.

This is the most stupid issue I ever read or heard about, parrots and birds are the sweetest pets...I would say that capturing indangered birds and parrots to keep as a pet is wrong in many ways as it is been taken from its real environment...But getting birds from breeders that no nothing but being hand fed and treated as a baby and as a part of a family should not be prevented because offering a sweet, nice and loving home for a parrot that was hatched, hand fed in an aviary is the right thing to do...but forcing a bird out of there real environment is terrible...
PLUS she should do a club about stopping murdering HUMANS all over the world in wars and in GAZA before wasting time in preventing something that can not be prevented because when some one pay over $1000 for a pet that means he /she will take care of this PET they wont pay this amount to torture them....NON SENSE

The bottom line is that it is another way to infringe on rights that are already put into place for us. There are many other issues that deserve the kind of attention that this so called "Bird club" is putting into getting this ridiculous law passed. Yes, some birds may get mistreated in captivity, but for every one bird that is abused or neglected there are probably a thousand dogs in the same or worse conditions.

I live in Tennessee, and while I do not see many abused or neglected birds, I can take a drive out to my parents rural farm on the border with Kentucky and see around fifty dogs just on the drive out that are chained to a tree/ kennel with no source of heat, no toys, and a hard ground to lay on at night.

I do not like tighter regulations because it is one more way for the government to control the population. Here in Tennessee they passed the law last year that it is illegal to smoke in an establishment. Yep, that's right. If you are a smoker in Tennessee the only place you can smoke is at your home, in your car (they are working on banning that), or at a friend's home. No restaurants and no bars. I don't smoke, so it doesn't affect me- but it is taking away the rights of smokers. It is scary how quickly that right was taken away from people.

Not only that, but here is something to chew on:

Tighter restrictions= manpower in order to impose these restrictions= more money that we (as citizens) have to pay out of our pocket to keep the regulations and laws working and enforced.

As a country in the shape it is in, can we really afford to put more money into causes that don't necessarily benefit the whole?????

As for the porn industry bailout, I think you missed that it was a sarcastic joke. The porn industry people were basically making a statement that all these bailouts have gotten a little bit ridiculous, and were trying to show that it is ludicrous for the government to step in and bailout all these businesses, just as it would be ludicrous for them to bailout the porn industry.

PMSL. Hey guess what. Can't smoke inside clubs, pubs or restaurants here. If you have kids in the car and light up a cigarette, yep you get fined for that too (which even as a smoker I agree with that one). It's actually not so bad really once you get used to it all.

Yep starting to think Australia really is one of the most over regulated Westernised countries around. I still think we need to do more with the breeding and sale or birds issues here though. I think you guys in the US are on the right track with the MAP certification.

Would I live anywhere else, of course not.

I wouldn't be surprised if I could find more people who support PETA, both ignorant [who will usually be more than glad to stop supporting if they knew what PETA was all about] and well informed people, who are *ALL* pet owners.

I'm sorry once again I spoke generally. Not making fun of you, what you've said is true! Peta generally speaking now is not taken seriously by most. however our government tends to listen to the crackpots that make alot of noise n getTHE MEDIA attention, need I say more?

okay well to make owning parrots/bird illegal is the stupidest thing iv heard. its not cruel keeping them in cages as long as there able to come out and play when possible each day. also if birds become illegal then so should other pets. whats the difference between keeping a bird in a cage and a dog thats in a small kenal or cage. saying that birds should be illegal as pets is like saying that we should not have any animal as a pet. period. who else agrees.

I don't think dogs should be kept in small kennels or cages. I believe people need to think more about the animal/bird/reptile whatever and it's life then their own selfish must have now egos.

Is it up to the government to regulate this, well probably not but there do need to be guidelines. I've noticed that many people are too stupid, arrogant and egocentric to think outside their own immediate needs and wants to consider the welfare of the animal they have decided to share their home with. Unfortunately this gets noticed so big brother ends up stepping in and dictating to those of us who do have a few brain cells because of the rest of the moron element.

How many times have we heard stories on this board alone about some of the awful living conditions (physical, emotional and psychological) that birds are or have been under. We need to be careful not to get wrapped up in our own egos and realise that there are a number of people out there that for whatever reason do not keep their pets in ideal conditions.

The people who are doing the right thing by their companions generally get a brisk pat on the head whilst the horror story ones get all the attention and then, well whacko, mobs like PETA swoop in and brand every pet owner the same.

I was going somewhere else with this but just got distracted by Arthur telling me "I love you" continually.
