Question Dealing with floor vents

...and things falling into them?

I was just wondering if anyone had any clever things that they did to deal with vents in the floor. Of course the birds like hanging out by the windows, which of course is where all the heating vents are located. So if I lay a little towel out to catch poops/hulls, then I'm covering up the vent.

And also, I'm sure a bunch of debris is getting into the vents, I'd like to minimize that too.

How do you guys deal with these?

One of my cages is directly atop a vent. I didn't want any drafts or anything, so I sealed that one off with tin foil, then put the decorative cover over that.
They also make cut-to-size filters that fit in the vents. Thats what I have in all the others in the house.

I was gonna suggest the cut to size filters that spil under the grate as well... :) Thats how we kept the kids toys out of them at our old home.

I truly miss the floor vents in winter time... that was nice in winter...

Oh cool...I didn't know there was such a thing as a cut-to-size filter. I will have to look for those - thanks!

if you have something like a playstand over top of the vent, try this:
Heat Register Deflector- Air Register Deflector - Improvements Catalog

Scott, thank you for that link! I think that will be very helpful as I could drape a towel over that to catch poop, but the air could still come out. Awesome. :)
