Unfortunately, we don't know that. Currently they are being kept at the animal shelter. If the judge finds the guy unfit to keep the birds, and approves of them being adopted (sold) at the animal shelter then they will go to anyone who wants them, good home or not. I have a feeling many of them will end up back at the shelter, on craigslist, or worse. Lets hope for their sake they do find good homes though. I for one plan to see for myself what condition they are in.

I guess that I was just hoping that that would be the case after all that they went through.

I am so confused .... I can't figure out what is going on. Someone please take the time to explain a bit. Sorry, but I don't want to jump to conclusions, I want to understand.

One of our members, who runs a bird rescue, had a back injury a while ago. He has been looking for help to take care of his rescued flock. His home was raided and his birds confiscated.

I can't even imagine the heartbreak. I have an aviary in the back yard, filled with re-homed birds, and shudder to think what might happen if I was injured and money was tight. I have taken every possible precaution to ensure their continued well being, but you never know what trouble is awaiting you just around the proverbial bend.

Just because they say they are a rescue doesnt mean they are a good rescue.I mean over 100 birds and the cages filthy..Sounds like someone wasnt rescuing but hoarding(taking on more then they could handle).Rescues usually adopt out the birds and have volenteers that come in to help when there are that many. How can one person give enough individualized attention to that many birds? I would think it would be all one could do just to feed and clean that many on a daily basis with no time left to give attention to any but a handful of the birds.
Its physically impossible to do that and a good rescue would know that and hire or get people to help out.
I dont doubt some of those poor birds will not get much better of a home but maybe a few will get some individual attention and care they deserve.
What separates a hoarder from a rescue?
Please I dont know this person nor do I know them on the board.I only know what I read so Im not flaming Im asking how do you tell the difference?
