Your family and your fids...
Hi everyone! I was wondering about the other people you share your homes (and fids) with. The ones that don't (or didn't) have the same passion as you did for birds and other pets
My boyfriend didn't know a thing about birds when I met him, but now he can handle them and communicate with them really well. He can engage Ash in games and she now actually lets him scritch her, and doesn't bite him anymore. He can control the dogs and get them to perform tricks for him. He absolutely loves my dog Ichabod and Binx the duck.Flea and Ichabod ![]() Harley ![]() Binx

I don't live with any other humans. Unfortunately my Dad is not thrilled when Jannabell lands on him when he's visiting. My friends tho have become attatched to the fids. Some had no idea about birds but I explained the basics as I understand them and that helped them forge trusting bonds.

Same here, my boyfriend loves birds and is happy getting them for me so he can play with them, he doesn't clean up after them either hah.

My husband would be happier if I dodn't have any birds as he says there too noisy and messy. Yet he wants a kid! Nope I've still not figured that one out either.
Yet he get's all upset when Merlin bites him again when he's trying to make freinds. Even with me saying to him, leave her alone, step back she's going to bite. "she's okay, you don't have to be scared of me Merlin" BITE! "what was that for" (I let out a big sigh with a we warned you)

My wife hand raised birds for a breeder long before she met me. When my son decided he wanted a bird I let her take him to pick one out. She told me she was birded out and that I would have to be responsible for it. Of course I knew that I had wanted a bird for dozens of years and I knew I might end up with it anyway. Well, now I have 4 birds and have learned much from my wife about them (and yes, I clean the cages).
So apparently we males of the species are dolts until the females train us in the secret ways of birds! LOL

I live in a houseful of people and animal but only my 7yo shares my intense passion for animals. He loves the birds especially and they seem to really like him too.
My hubby ignores most the pets except for 2 of the dogs, he loves them. He never says anything bad about my birds, just doesnt do anything with them either.. My oldest son doesnt like animals at all and has none of his own.My 20yo has two italian greyhounds that he spoils and loves to no end(he is currently living with us so I get to enjoy his dogs too). But he doesnt like the birds, he says they are annoying. My 15yo only likes his lizard really. He does seem to enjoy the italians as well.He says he hates the birds, they are noisy and bite.Animals just dont seem to like him much and even our dogs tend to run away from him(he has high functioning autism and has a hard time relating to people or animals).I dont think at this point any of the above will change and start suddenly liking birds. |

My 4 older kids no longer live at home and none of them have any interest in birds. I have 4 younger kids (2 are too young ) My 10 year old and 7 year old like to hold my 1 parrotlet. He's the only one that they are able to handle. I would like to get another small bird that is bigger than a parrotlet that the kids could handle. My husband is okay with them but says no more. It frustrates me because if he wanted another animal, he would get it.

My Husband has never had more than one dog at a time, so moving in with me was a shock for him. I have about 30 dogs,3 horses, hogs, goats, rabbits, reptiles, 8 cows,chickens...and the birds. He and my stepfather knew nothing ( and still practically dont) about parrots, so they both thought my birds were "mean". He helps me when babies are in the handfeeding stage, but so far no birds have gotten attatched to him. He often says I talk to the birds more than him. =) It was a little overwhelming for him at first( especially when he found out the prices of parrots I had), but he's gotten used to it and is getting better every day =)
