B&G Macaw playing in water..... question on bath too!

I was wondering what is best way to go about the bath. I tried putting little water in bottom of tub, but no go. with the shower, the noise scares him a little. I got a shower perch, but he just isn't the best around it.

He LOVES to do this though......

Have you tried a spray bottle? Any of mine that don't like the shower like being misted. When you tried the shower perch have you been in the shower with him?

Yea, tried with me in and out. He just took off and flew to the sink. When I mist him, he flies as well.

I either take Teal in the shower with me, or I also bought an extra shower curtain rod and put it in the middle of the tub long ways. That way he has more room to move around. He really gets into flapping and etc and a shower perch just aren't big enough for him to enjoy.

Well, I tried tonight and he wasn't as bad but jumped to fly and grabbed my arm. I am thinking about just letting the shower stream hit him and see how he likes it. I usually just cup it and rub on him. Maybe I should go all in.

My shower has different settings. Teal likes the mist one! Very fine flow

MMR, what a fantastic idea! My birds all sit on the shower rod, waiting for me to finish before I take them in. Now, they can be with me in the shower as well. Great idea, thanks!

"Daddy! I need a bigger bath tub!" LOL. That is too cute. Mine both love showers, but hate the shower head. I bought a mister from Lowe's that you mist plants with and they both love it. Just a thought

That's what I use too - a huge thing that holds a couple of gallons and has a setting where it stays on and all I have to do is hold the handle and aim it.

If you take a sit-down bath (lol) you can try laying a towel over the rail of the tub. I started doing this when my grey was a baby. Eventually he wanted to get IN the tub and climbed onto my leg then started dunking his head in. Now I fill the tub with about 1 inch of warm water while I get ready in the mornings and he has a ball running through the water, drinking and splashing. He's my only bird that likes this though so it might now work for you or be conveinent. You definately can't leave him in there unsupervised.
