Cage question
Which to do? But a very large powder coated cage or a smaller stainless steel cage? I am concerned about the toxicity of paints and yet stainless are so much more expensive that I could not afford as large a cage.

In my humble opinion, if you can afford stainless, buy stainless. Otherwise, save your money and use what you have until you can afford the proper cage in stainless.
As for powder coated cages, I have learned a few very hard lessons: it pays to buy the best. Having said that, I needed a lot of big cages and I needed them in a very short time. One by one, I've replaced them. If you decide to get a powder coated cage, do yourself a favor and buy a good one. King's high end cages are probably the best with the original California Cages being a close second. The newest California Cages are quite dissapointing. My favorite cages are my Kings. If you have cockatoos or macaws, the stainless is the only shot you have at having it remain intact throughout the life of your bird. If you have smaller birds, you really don't need a stainless cage at all. They aren't likely to damage the finish on the powder coated ones. THE OUTLAW
