Tigon
Went to see his doctor and everything is in good order she said. He's as healthy as a horse on a summer day she said. His weight and everything is fine but she does want to do checks on his weight during the transition of the food and because of his sudden change in homes.
I found out I had to bathe the little bugger, bad mommy. I bought a bottle from the vet that will mist him down. She explained some of the dust habits he has and how to bathe, feed him. She thought the food change is a good idea and she gave me a couple more books. I was reading a book to him today in hopes that he likes to hear my voice. lol I got a happy feeling inside when I thought about my best Friend, Heather. We spent alot of time talking and I missed so much about Tigon in the conversations because I wanted to hear about her work, boyfriends, life in general and telling her about Az and how much I love it. It's the little things we take for granted. I wish I listened more because I'm slowly learning that this parrot kept her more busy then anything in her life did. I guess we both are going to miss her. Ashley |

I'm glad to hear that Tigon received a good check up. I'm also happy to hear that you're going to get him on a better diet. It will make him much happier. Continue reading to him, get yourself some children's books. He'll probably enjoy them.
Bathing can be a fun time for both of you. Find out if he likes slow running water in the sink. He might enjoy that. Thanks for the update. I can't wait to see some pics. |

I'm very happy that Tigon and you are doing so well. It only takes a little bit of education and the commitment to do your best and before you know it, you're an old pro.
Tigon might also enjoy a lovely bath in his cage. Try putting a pie plate in the bottom of the cage with about an inch of water and a few ice cubes. Then, start up your vacuum cleaner. I know this sounds crazy, but many birds will immediately head for their water dishes and bath while the vacuum makes noise. Its a good time to clean while they bath. THE OUTLAW

Outlaw,
I did the cleaning why he was bathing and I think that worked out. I think he likes me with him though. I could be reading the vibes wrong too but when he's bathing he gets close to me and moves his head around. I thought maybe he was dancing to the music. lol npgsoul, When I read your post I remembered I still have all the books my mom use to read to me. What memories, I kept them thinking maybe one day... and here it is. lol Thanks everyone for the encouragement. It helps me think I'm doing right by the little man. Pressure him because he was my best friends. Sometimes I feel like she's watching me making sure I'm doing it right. Hilarious thought right? lol I have to get a camera. I use to have one but I broke it one night out rambling around with my friends. I'm hoping to order one today or at least get an idea of price, picture value. So far, last night I had to work. I work at a 24/7 daycare and the one lady called in sick. My shift is all messed up this week. Tigon and I will go from every minute together to separation time here. I'm hoping it all works out. I think he missed me. I know I missed him. I was also wondering if it's his age, 1 year old, or if it's the move from Ca to Az. I thought I heard him making a noise but I think it was the toy he was playing with. When will he talk and could he know words already? Ashley Last edited by committed; 05-16-2005 at 04:09 PM. |

Ashley:
I have a friend who handfeeds baby greys and some are talking before they are even fully weaned. They will speak when they are ready. THE OUTLAW

Ashley, I'm so glad things are going well with you and Tigon (like I've said before). Right now, if I were you, I wouldn't worry about when he will start talking. Before you know it, you'll be asking us how to keep him quiet!! A lot of greys start talking around 1 year old, some not until older. Give him time, but don't make it a priority.

Yea, I'm not forcing him to talk but I did think that I might have heard him make a couple noises. I think he squeals and then yesterday when I got home from work I heard him snoring. Or like a friend of mine said, maybe he was imitating someone
Unless anyone knows of a CAG that snores? Sorry it's been a couple days, a girl from work is sick and I've been taking over her hours. Then I found out that a guy I've been in relations with isn't who he told me he was. It's been a rough week. But Tigon seems to be happy with me for the most part. He hasn't touched his breakfast yet this morning so I'm going to go try something new. Thanks everyone for the information, I know I'll be back Ashley |

Ashley, I just read through your other posts and I am so touched by your story. That dear little bird got very very lucky to find himself with such a considerate, caring new mom. I got a little teary reading when you said, "I just hope I don't hurt him". You won't! Your level of care and consideration for him is inspiring. So many birds suffer when a caring owner dies, and someone takes the bird in and doesn't bother to learn about their care. I am also very sorry for your loss. But you have a living reminder of her, and when your relationship with Tigon deepens, and it will - you will have something very very precious to remember your friend by. You will be so happily surprised to find just how close you and Tigon will become. I look forward to reading about your little milestones and breakthroughs together.
My brother also has a baby grey, just over a year old. She started talking up a storm just after her first birthday. We can't wait to see pics of the sweet bird. Best wishes! Michele and Humphrey

What Don said is exactly true: You'll be begging for him to STOP talking before you know it.
As I'm typing, Cleo my CAG is imitating Radar my TAG and laughing hysterically. My BG Dreamie is yelling at her to "STOOOOOOOP". Of course, that's merely the pot calling the kettle black, for he's been yelling at the dog for about 15 minutes. THE OUTLAW
