I am! I am! I was just going to purchase a bottle to try. Why are you selling it? Did you use the product and buy too much? Or are you not happy with the results? Share please what you've learned.

Oops! I had somehow missed the fact that this thread had replies. Actually, I bought it to use on my senegal for his plucking. He started last fall and stopped after I put him on Pluck No More. He started back again and I bought a new bottle about two weeks ago. At any rate, when he plucked the first time I think it was due to a bad wing trim. This time I ended up having to take him to the vet as he was plucking more than just his under his wings, and my vet determined it is a behavioral (anxiety) issue and has prescribed him Haloperidol for the time being.
As for it working, I think My-Africangrey-Echo has really detailed posts about the good it has done her Grey. |

My Mackie has HUGE anxiety and behavioral disorders (read his blog for his history) and was a very bad plucker and also violent with biting, attacking, lunging and EXTREMELY profane language-tirades... I tried Pluck No More (I found it to be very expensive over the long-term) and I went to AviCalm. Mackie is now fully-feathered and 80% of his negative and bad behaviors have ceased completely or greatly diminished. ALL accomplished without doping him up. He is now (for the most part) a happy, settled, calm Congo who plays endlessly, chatters (nicely) endlessly, loves cuddles and scritches and kisses. I REALLY don't want to start something up here, but why wouldn't you try these products, or others like it, BEFORE going the medication-route?

Dana, I will answer your question and then I am going to drop the post. This thread was originally started to give someone a great deal on a product that is sitting on a shelf in my cabinet, and not for me to have to defend my choice of treatment of my birds.
I believe that I have every right to medicate and treat my birds as I and my vet see fit, and I do not have to answer up to any one on this board as long as my guys are getting optimal vet care. There are probably a hundred people or more on this very board who NEVER even take their birds to the vet, so don't flame me for doing what I (and my vet) felt was right. Joey, my senegal, HAS been on homeopathic medicine for the past six months, and while it did help for a while I took him to the vet as soon as the problem escalated. Pluck No More worked for a while when he only picked up underneath his wings (as I said I think it was originally due to a bad wing trim we think), but the minute my little guy started ripping out chest feathers my vet and I decided that time was of an essence, and we did not want to take the chance that an over the counter medication may or may not stop it. We felt that the longer we waited dilly dallying with over the counter drugs the worse (and more habitual) the feather picking would become. Joey is also out and away from my birds being retrained on how to step up, as he seems to have been in a dominance struggle since coming to live with me early 2008. We have had serious issues with him fear biting and with him jumping off my hand anytime I try to pick him up and screaming bloody murder. The medicine is also supposed to help with these issues, and my vet and I are hoping to only have him on the haloperidol for a month. I have worked with my vet since 2002, and I fully trust the decisions that I make with my vet's guidance. As I have already stated, and want to stress, I think it is ridiculous to have to answer to anyone as to how I choose to treat my birds, when I know there are people out there who don't even take their birds to the vet. I am glad that you and your vet have decided that the best route for your baby is to try the more natural route and over the counter drugs. I would never talk down to anyone about choices that they made concerning their animals care, as long as they were taking their animals to the vet. I am done with this topic, if anyone is interested in the Pluck No More please PM me. |

If you feel I "flamed" you, I deeply apologize. I tried very hard in my post NOT to do that. I am a very NON-confrontational person. That said, behavior-related plucking and other "mental health" issues are a subject close to my heart because of what I deal with everyday with my CAG Mackie.
I'm sorry you feel that I judged you. I did not. I asked a question regarding homeopathic methods BEFORE medication because I did not know you had already tried them and failed. You are 100% correct. You do not owe a single person any explanation. I'm sorry that you took my post the wrong way...
