Lovebird Perches?

Reading about the previous thread about perches, I wish I read it BEFORE going on a shopping spree today for the FIDS!

I spent a great deal today, and in the process I bought a few more perches.

My concern is that I read somewhere about lovebird and perches and how in the wild, they don't sleep on perches, but rather in dark crevices...If I let my birds decide on their own where to sleep, they would choose to sleep hiding in my stuff animals (Now their play gym) on my book shelves...

However, for their own safety, I always make them go back into their cage at night time...Every week when I disinfect their cage, I always switch out their perches not just to clean, but to rearrange, and to give them variety, from rope perches, to mananzita, to fig branch, etc.

I'm afraid of putting in a "happy hut" as I have a young hen, who is only about 6 months old, from getting too hormonal, and want to prevent her from even getting ideas of laying eggs.

So my question is...Where and what is the BEST roosting area for a lovebird?!

Should I let them sleep outside of their cage at night time? They usually nap out in the open either perched on my stuffed animals, on my fish tank, or inside my shirt during the day time.

And should I give them a happy hut?

Thanks!

It may be best for now to not give them a happy hut but rather go out and see if you can find a hanging shelf (usually for hamsters, birds, etc... wire shelf to hang in a wire cage...). They may enjoy that or there are some birdy beds that can be made for them too (probably will have to look up macaw beds or bunkbeds to get an idea).

I believe these are what Monica was talking about (the wire shelves)...

Yes, that type of wire shelving. I bought mine from a petstore and it works great for putting food on it!
