Birdy foot massage

I was wondering if anyone else gives their fids foot massages. I have heard about arthritis in birds, and seeing as how they are on their feet all day and night long they deserve a little pampering. I went to school for human massage therapy ^_^ and learned about the benefits. I figure it must be good for our birds feet too; improving circulation and probably good for the joints too.

I have tried it on all my birds but my amazon seems to enjoy it the most. He'll stop fidgeting and stand still to let me do it. Sometimes he even makes his happy sounds.

There is massage therapy for our pets, like horses, dogs & cats, but I have never heard anything about it for parrots feet.

Does anyone else do this or have any thoughts on it?

Wawa loves me to rub his feet. He lays on his back and gets all sleepy. Pepper thinks if I touch his feet I'm trying to kill him. Still working on it, he has come a long way in six months.

I imagine it would feel good. I don't massage the feet on mine, per se, but I do rub them a little. They seem to enjoy it.

Except Goose seems to have perpetually poopy feet. But he got this bath today and they were well cleaned. So I wouldn't mind touching him now. =)

None of my birds really mind me touching their toes but how would I massage them? Budgie toes are so tiny!

Blossom, bfa, doesn't like to be touched anywhere but her feet and occasionally her beak so I rub her feet and Echo's feet too.

My Severe and Yellow Collar love it! Especially the Severe who will lay on his back in my hand and we play "Get the Piggies"... she loves it. My Miligold will give you his to rub. The BCC and Hahns do not like it at all. I feel that it could only be helpful too, since my Severe an Yellow Collar both have constricted toes. They all love having their beaks rubbed/scratched... <<lil eyes roll in the back of the head>>. I was told by a breeder that the mother birds do this for soothing purposes. It really does work.

Disco doesn't mind me fiddling with his feet but I have never thought to massage them. I want to go wake him up right now and try, lol!

I run Ash's footsies and make it enjoyable so that every now and then I can clip her nails and she won't notice as much >_> Shhh!

Some of my birds like it, some don't... Ugh, and to avoid the beak dents on my hand, I avoid the ones that don't, lol.

Just wondering, do you give foot rubs to parronts.... and if you do... what do you charge, lol.

When Scarley, my Ringneck is on the sides of the cage, she loves for me to rub them but as for holding her and doing it, NO.
