Parrotlets or lovebirds which is your fave?

Hi all. I am considering getting a parrotlet. I am a bit concerned about the nippy factor as I am one of those who hates to be bitten. I think I will get over it a bit as I did with my first bird. Anyway, I also love lovebirds but my friends love bird makes the biggest mess I have ever seen a little bird make. LOL Which is not the biggest deal but.... Also he is sooooooooooo loud. And that is an issue for me. My bird is minimally loud. He has his moments but is mostly not annoyingly loud at all. And I hear that parrotlets are not really overly noisy or loud which had me leaning that way. But it is a lot harder to find a handfed where I am at but I think I can manage. Really easy to find hand fed lovebirds though. So which do you prefer lovebirds or parrotlets. So far I think I want a parrotlet.

I personally prefer lovebirds. I must say though that I have only played with parrotlets and never owned one. Please note though that they too can be nippy. If you get a female expect to deal with cage aggression for at least a while.

I was talking about parrotlets when I mentioned nippy. LOL Thanks for the opinion.

I should have been clearer. I meant that lovebirds can be nippy as well. Sorry for the confusion from the way that I wrote it.

Oh okay :) Yeah I knew this as well. I actually have three friends who have love birds but my best friends I'm around more. She has a boy but the other two are girls. I can deal with a bit of feisty but don't know how great I will be with something biting the crap out of me all the time. LOL I am truly giving it some thought seriously before making any decision.

I'd be partial to Lovebirds ;)

Although I have to say Linnies are awfully cute and the ones I met were quite nice and gentle.

I've owned a parrotlet before, and she acted like she was on PMS all the time. One moment she would enjoy a head scritch, and next thing you know she's drawing blood from your hand.. She was a really quiet bird though, and would follow us around :)

I have had both and I adore my Parrotlet girl, Chipper. She is smart, CUTE, funny and sweet. Also, VERY important.... QUIET.

She is the perfect bird for me.

Sally your little lady is very beautiful! I just adore the parrotlets too. Like I said I just am not one for the nipping but can't get my mind off of a parrotlet. Quiet is VERY important to me also. Thank you a lot for your input and the adorable pic!

Just out of curiosity, I know every bird differs but which was more nippy and bossy in your opinion?
