Been a while

So it has been a while since I have been able to get on here and give you guys an update. I am sorry but we have been in the middle of moving and getting the kids settled. It has been a crazy whirlwind! Anyway she has blossomed from a little terror who had no manners and was scared of her own shadow, and was pretty sick to a very protective, very well behaved (most days), very healthy member of the family. She guards her flock and is very quick to let us know when someone comes on our property (or when a child gets out of bed in the middle of the night, Pat and I can walk by her all night and she doesn't say a word. If one of the little people in our flock walk by she sounds the alarm!) She has her own aviary (the screened in lanai), she stands guard every evening and chats to herself. She seems to have bonded to me the most. No matter where I am she has to fly in the room and hang out with me. She is eating well (including her veggies) and plays a lot. She takes a bath every Saturday as this is her routine (kind of weird). I take her in the shower with me but she doesn't want to take a bath just perch on the door and sleep. All in all Trinity is an awesome bird and we are glad she decided to join our flock. I have added some pics for your viewing pleasure.

Oh my goodness, Trinity is BEAUTIFUL! I love the pictures of her sitting up on her perch over the pool. It is very clear that she is queen of her castle...AND KNOWS IT! :) What subspecies is she?

Trinity is beautiful!!!! I'm still not convinced there is a more beautiful bird that a female eclectus. I've found them to be very protective of their flock. They are true "mother hens".

She is def. protective over us. She will not let my mother inlaw take her off of my shoulder. It is so funny.

She is very beautiful!

I have one concern I want to voice, and please do not take this the wrong way. When she is out by the pool please make sure that you are with her at all times. As we all know, parrots cannot swim, and if she was to accidentally fall into the pool it could only take seconds for her to drown. I have read about this happening before in the past. Just a safety measure I wanted to point out, as sometimes people do not realize that it is a threat.

Other than that, she looks rather happy!!!!!

She is NEVER unattended outside (or inside unless she is in her cage). EVER!! I also had a concern about the pool (I worry about her as much as I do the kids). She fell in once when we moved in (I almost had a heart attack). I was on her in a 1/2 second flat! She can keep herself afloat (with her wings) and even flop her way to me, I doubt she could do it for very long. She learned the hard way that the pool is not bird friendly. She no longer has any curiosity and stays away from it. She has also learned about the screens and can navigate the sliders with ease (which I was REALLY worried about). We took her around and showed her all of the mirrors and windows when we moved in. So far only minor issues. She is very smart and only does things she doesn't like once. Hpefully she has tried everything and I no longer have to worry all the time. (LOL, wishful thinking huh!)
