Avian flu?!?!?! Please help!!

I am very nervous right now. I work in the ER at a local hospital and we just had a patient in who was diagnosed with avian flu, which is very contagious. I'm around contagious things day in and day out, that's not what I'm worried about. What are the chances of me carrying it to my birds? The doctor in ER didn't have any idea and I'm wondering if I should go home tonight or have a friend stop in and take care of them. I have 8 fids at home and would never forgive myself if something happened. Anybody have any ideas?? I work until 6 pm central time today. Thanks a million in advance!

Definitely call your avian vet for that one!

Then come back and let us know what he says. I hope to never need the information, but it's good to know!!

Where are you located? I would call the vet but there are some biosecurity
information here: Biosecurity for Wild Birds, Pet Birds and Poultry, Avian Influenza, Exotic Newcastle Disease - Animal and Plant Inspection Service

Also Lisa has listed more info on her site: The Grey Roost

Let us know what the vet says, I would be very interested
