Question What breed is he?

I went to the glorious petshop today to look at their ferrets (they didn't have anyone, go figure). I get in there, and Cracker the mini military macaw is sitting in his cage, quiet as can be. :P So I walk up to him and say "Hey, Cracker!" and he started trying to bite me from behind the cage. 8D

So like, 10 minutes of me sitting there talking to him, he starts dancing. Bobbing his head up and down while making his head feathers all poofy. I laugh and dance with him (he looks epic, I look retarded. D; ). We danced for like another 10 minutes, then he stops and looks me dead in the eye and says "Cracker!" It. Was. So. Cute. He said it again when Mom came over. x3

But anyway, I go to walk away, and he SCREAMS that famous macaw scream. x_________x I wasn't expecting the volume of it at all! xD I've never heard a macaw scream before. :P He was maaad at me for leaving!

Mom and I walked back to the petstore about 10 minutes later and he was preening. 8D He was VERY happy to see me. Clucking like a chicken and saying his name over and over and cuddling up to the side of the cage. xD When I had to leave for good, he was screaming louder. LOL.

He was so adorable, srsly. I wanna steal him. D8

Butyeah. Cracker's awesome. ♥

^ My post from a different forum.

I looked it up and Cracker is DEFINITELY not a military macaw. He doesn't have the red forehead. I looked around, and I couldn't see what he looked like at all! They didn't tell me at the petstore, either.

He's completely green, besides the underside of his wing, which is red. He has a white face and yellow eyes (his pupils are rimmed with a light green). He was about.. 9-10 inches tall. If you could help, that would be amazing. :D I want to do more research because I was seriously interested in him. I won't be able to get a Macaw for another year, but I really want whatever breed he is because his personality and size was just perfect.

Did he look like this? This is a severe macaw.

I thought about that, but he was PURE green - no brown on his head. :(

The only other two possibilities are the hahn's macaw (there is a subspecies the noble macaw that has a horn colored beak) or the illiger's macaw. They are attached in that order. If it is not one of these then it is not a macaw. However, I am not sure if baby severe macaws have the brown or not though.

For birds, unlike cats and dogs, it's not a "breed" it's a "species" ;) Cracker sounds like my macaw friend Shilo, who I fell in love with at a pet shop. I hope you can get one!

I need to get a picture, don't I? LOL!

He looks a lot like that Illiger's Macaw. I think he's a bit bigger than a Hahn's, and he's only a couple years old... I think. Lol. :P

I love little Cracker. If I had the financial means and place, I'd take him now. :)
