Little Timmy!

I just got home from putting a deposit on a timneh! He is still at the breeded and will be flying to the shop mid June with 2 of his siblings. And since I was 1st to put a deposit down, I get to pick which one I want! Yay!

I was last I think to put my name on the list so I didnt think I'd get to choose.
We are so excited! She even reccomended a smaller cage than I'd been considering for less money- a sign of integrity IMO, plus the requiring weekly visits.

Congratulations on your coming addition! Please don't skimp on the cage though. He may not need anything very big when he first gets home but as he grows he will need as much cage as you are able to provide. Unless you are planning on buying 2 cages, I go ahead and get the largest one that I could afford now.

Not skimping, but the cage I was looking at had bars too far apart apparently. She reccomended nothing bigger than 3/4" and I was looking at 1".

Congrats on your new baby!!! I know how exciting that is! We got Bosco just a little over a month ago & he is GREY'T!!!! I can't imagine life without him! Here is a grey't place to look at cages. And the shipping is included in the price. They buy cages by the warehouse full so they can sell them cheaper! It doesn't hurt to look! It's where I got Bosco's cage & we love it....so does he!Congrats again!!!! I'm looking forward to sharing pics & stories in the future!

Hmm....it's definitely a sign of integrity for her to recommend the smaller cage but that doesn't mean you have to take her advice. The cage she recommended says it's mainly for softbills, then adds timneh greys and hahn's macaws at the end.

Your original choice says:
"Specifically designed for eclectus parrots, small cockatoos, including goffins, bare-eyed, rose-breasted, etc, Congo greys and most Amazon parrots, including yellow crowns, blue fronts, double yellow heads, etc, hawk head parrots, and larger long tailed parrots including yellow collar macaws".

I would think that a Timneh would fit in with that group, wouldn't you all? If it was up to me, i'd get the bigger cage. It's not that much more expensive, and he'll appreciate it. However, I would find out first if the 1" spacing was dangerous first. What do you all think?

Those are both awesome cages, and stainless steel will last practically forever. But if I had a choice, I'd still go with the bigger cage. JMHO

Congratulations on your new fid! You'll have a wonderful time with him/her. Now you just need to parrot proof the house, buy a nice large cage, lots of toys to destroy, pick out a name, choose a nice space where he can be a part of the activity without actually being a part of the activity, and so on. The list is endless. Again congrats! :eusa_clap

Congratulations! I can imagine how excited you must be! And the anticipations will probably drive you crazy! As the others have said - I too would advise the biggest cage you can afford. The smaller one may be cheaper - but I think you might regret it down the road. Spend now and don't regret later.
