Talking Went to bird expo today!

I didn't come home with any birds (goodness knows I have enough!) but I got a nice big cage for Moki for quite a bargain. I'll post about that in the conure forum. Here's a slide show of all the birds we saw. It was sooooo fun!!

Wow, that's some interesting birds! We never have all that around here! And as goofy as it looked, I really liked the backback perch that woman had her GW on. Would've saved me some skin and quite a few shirts!

Wow, your bird fair is huge!!!! I was wondering about the two purple and teal brightly colored birds that were caged together. Does anyone know what they are? They were in the pictures shortly after the macaws on the blue and yellow PVC perches at the beginning of the show.

Are birds fairs a good place to purchase birds or would you guys reccomend from private owners? Just wondering so when I start looking...Thanks.
It did not work out with the parrot I looked at this weekend. IT hated me, yet loved my friend (who does not even want a parrot). But, I know parrots are like that, they can like or dislike you on sight..so that one did not work out.

They are Lilac Breasted Rollers. I attached a picture of one to make sure that I am talking about the right bird.

I'm sorry it didn't work out! :(

I really enjoyed holding the larger parrots. They were all very friendly. That would probably be a good place to go and meet lots of birds at one time. There were many that were not banded so I didn't know how old they were. You would have to take someone's word for it. The macaws were going for $800 in that photo where you see them all together on perches.

I could have spent a lot there! Maybe next year I'll save up more. I saw the cage, gave the lady $20 to hold it and sent hubby to find an ATM to get the rest. He of course, being a meany, only withdrew exactly the amount needed to pay the balance of the cage. I had another $5 in my wallet and let my 8yo pick out some beads and fun things to build some toys for the budgies. So I literally spent every last dollar.

It was cool because people were negotiating prices for things-- for example I heard one vendor say that if anyone was selling the same toys in the expo, he would beat their lowest price.
