Pepper's new cage... I'm needing reassurance

Well I am having a hard time knowing for sure if what I have done it right.

Pepper is really moving around these days.... and his cage seemed crowded, so we went out and got him a bigger cage. The problems I am having is that it is not a play top. The last cage, which Wawa is now the very proud owner of, was Peppers first play top.

He spent equal amounts of time on the rope perch we put on the open door and the play top. I am hoping that he will be OK without the play-top.

I guess my biggest concern is that he was able to eat when he was out of his cage. We watched him carefully before the purchase, and he seems to go in and out freely to eat now, so I hope he will keep the weight on we worked so hard at getting.

Pepper came with a 20d X 20w X 24h, he was moved to a 22d X 24w X 34h, he now has a 23d x 32w x 44h. (All inside diameters)

We kept his first original cage as a night time cage, but he won't go near it... LOL. He liked sleeping in his play top and seems to have settled right in to his new dome top. He told us it was night night and settled right in to go to sleep.

Wawa went from his 18d x 20w x 34h to the 22d x 24w x 34h. Wawa loves his night night cage. The new cage has enough room for a bed for him. I set it up thinking maybe I could sell off the cage in my bedroom. Andre said no way, it makes Wawa feel special to sleep in there. Awww

I do however had two cages I need to sell lol.

Oh, we did take Pepper to the store to see if he would like his new cage before we bought it. He hung out in it and on it for a while, with no need to "be" on us.

If any of you have created a play top with perches etc.. on a dome top cage, I would love to see pictures.

I have and I change it up all the time. I actually prefer a dometop with attached perches because it can be changed (insead of the one perch on top of a playtop).

Here are a few of mine...

Simple (most days)...these perches are amazing to have for this too, lots of places to hang toys from...

A more motivated day...
