BS"D
Some of you will be familiar with the death by veterinary incompetence of Leila, the mate of BG (both Blue &Gold Macaws). Some months after Leila's death I went to evaluate a hen in the hopes of providing BG a new mate. When I arrived at the home of the hen I was aghast to see that she was in an untenable situation. So, as is the case when I have been led by Hashem to such a bird, I purchased her from the fellow while listening to his sob-story.
After her initial exam it was determined that she had some nasty bacteria to be treated (done), and sadly that her left elbow was frozen in place. Mind you, I had been told that she was in perfect health (wrong), captive bred (wrong again wild caught), relatively young (wrong, close to senior citizeness) & female (the only truth that was told that day). In view of all the other "misstatements" I had Princess genetically sexed just to be certain.
As time went on, it became obvious that Princess really didn't like BG. No big deal, she is a wonder bird on her own merits, & she will have a home with me forever. Earlier yesterday the yutz from whom I purchased her freedom sent me an email, Below is the whole exchange (read from bottom message to top) I can't believe that this fellow thinks that I would ever give Princess back into a situation where she would not receive best care, & where, at the first sign of fiscal discomfort she would be sold like an old sofa. Not to mention that he doesn't seem to realise that him coming to see her might very well cause her a great deal of unnecessary emotional turmoil & stress. * The more I deal with humans, the more I prefer my Macaws. *

When I take a bird into my life, I take them forever, for good or for ill. I would have preffered that Princess could breed, however her physical disability is in no way going to cause me to turn her out of her forever home. I appreciate that you are willing to make an offer to take her back, however having spent in excess of $ 700 just to get her in perfect health, & to learn what the prospects for her wings recovery were, it would be a false economy to turn her back to an uncertain situation for a small sum of money. As long as she is happy & I am able to meet her needs for socialisation & interaction, she will always be in my home & in my heart.

Yehuda
