Some newbies (pics)

I've been asked to start breeding budgies again so have had to increase my number a little, just to bring in some new blood and a few different colours. Whilst these guys are in the colony aviary I have a couple of breeding cages so will set up pairs in those and then rotate though the pairs. Means I know who is with who so no chance of inbreeding and I can keep more control to prevent over breeding which happens all too easily in a colony situation. Finally got my last 2 cockatiels that I've been looking for to pair up with Percy and Charlie. The w/f pearl looks a little ragged with her tail but she's a beautifully healthy bird, just a little ragged around the edges atm. She's only 6 month old so I won't be allowing her to breed for another 12 months.

Anyways...here's some pics.

All the newbies together

the 'new 'tiels

this guy is so cute. He's paired himself up with Maggie my little albino girl with attitude.

I've got another pair of buds coming from a friend who is finding she just doesn't have the time for them anymore. They're very much bonded together.

They are all beautiful! The budgies make a rainbow of colors and the cockatiels look amazing as well!

Biff and Holly (the other 2 buds) came over yesterday afternoon. They've been in a smallish cage with time out each day however it surprised both my friend and myself how unfit they are. Both were puffing and panting after about 5 minutes. Perches and boings in the aviary are all within short flight distance though so they'll be able to build up their stamina slowly and safely.

Takes the total to 10 budgies giving me 5 nice pairs. There's a couple of youngsters there so those ones won't be getting set up for breeding for a little while yet.
