Very worried about my grey's foot

About four days ago, I noticed one of her feet was discolored-brownish. She doesn't favor it, and is behaving normally. I took her to the vet and they couldn't find anything wrong. They gave me an anti-inflammatory, although I don't see why. the foot isn't swollen.

I'm glad my parrot is behaving normally, but I'm still worried. One foot shouldn't be brown.

Has anyone come across anything like this?

could it be a mutation?.. some tiels iv heard of a certain mutation have one toe in their foot that is a diffrent colour shade than the rest of the foot and toes..though i doubt that is the case here since you say it actually changed from its original colour...

i to do not understand why they would give you and anti inflammatory.. its not swollen..

if i were you and still in doubt.. i would seek out another opinion from another avain vet.. better safe than sorry right :)

Might the foot have gotten discolored from toy dye, or from something that was fed? Is it the foot she normally holds things with?

I just uploaded a photo of Jezebel in the member's photos area. I hope it's easy to find!

I saw the photo - she's just a baby! Beautiful Grey bird! It's hard to tell from that photo if she has something on her foot that stained it. Can you think back on what you've fed her that she would pick up and hold in her foot? Is that the foot she usually holds food and toys with?

Thanks for looking! It's so weird-yesterday during the day the foot began to look normal. Then at night it was brown again. Today it's still discolored but a little less. It keeps changing. this is truly a mystery. Oh, and no, she doesn't use that foot any more or less than the other one, and nothing specific is held in it.

Chapala, now that you mentioned it, I took a closer look at Jezebel eating just now. She eats the zupreen pellets, fruit flavored. They're all different colors. She does hold them with that foot, and she was just eating a red one, and I saw some red dye on her foot. Maybe this is the problem? I think I'll stop giving her the supreen and see what happens. Thanks for the idea!

Yep, I'm guessing that's it! Let us know if you confirm it.

You might want to think about switching her to Zupreem natural just to avoid the artificial colors and flavors.
