screaming parrot

I was checking on the internet and came across this. I'm willing to buy it if anyone knows anything about it and if itworks....I'ts $40.00 including shipping. It would be worth it's weight in gold if it works.

the website is: http://www.preciousparrot1.com/Screameater.htm

Looks like it might be good. What do you think?

Hmmm, at first read, it looks like you are going to blind your bird everytime it screams.
I realize that this is not so.
The last line in the ad "You must be consistent with this!" is what gets me. If you are "consistent" at distracting your bird with other methods, be it snapping of fingers or water bottle or what have you, you really don't need to spend the money to get this product.
And trust me when I say that they will for sure know who the "Bad guy" is.
Don't rightly like the idea of this though for some reason.
Just one more "BoogyMan."

Sounds like this thing is a laser pen. As with any sort of thing like this you must be careful with a nuerotic bird, ie a screamer. The sudden appearance of this light could cause the bird to freak out, or make it's problems worse.... also, some birds won't be afraid of it, they will like it, even if they are afraid of it, they might scream just to get the reaction!

I once used a laser pen on the wall/celing to distract Niki ... she wasn't afraid, but after about a week I realized that she was sometimes starting to scream so that she could see the laser point!! That was years ago, but everynow and then she will still scream at the top of her lungs, then stop and look around the celing and walls for the laser.... no doubt about it when you see her do this!

Sometimes it's very hard to outsmart a parrot.

Believe me, they will know that you holding something is causing the light... it will only take a few trys, and it WILL be linked to you.

Just out of curiosity, I wrote the person who sells the screameater to see exactly what it is. Notice there isn't a picture or a good description of it.
I asked for a picture of it and exactly how it works.

I have a laser pen and my amazon LOVES it. This thing would probably create a screaming problem in my house... this thing seems to have more positive reinforcement potential rather than negative reinforcement.

With finches, budgies, and a lovebird I don't have screaming problems, but I would think that the people on this site could use a scream meter. It would be interesting to know just how loud those screams can be. At least then we'd have a number to put with the other effects we're used to.

Aside from the idea being questionable, the website looks very skeezy. Lacks basic information, etc. I'd stay away.
