Bird lover Dom Deluise Dies at 75

I'm not sure if this is "bird related" in the strictest sense but it did seem appropriate to me that I post it here.

I was saddened yesterday to hear that the comic actor, comedian, chef and children's book author Dom Deluise died. He always made me laugh and I was surprised to lean only recently that he and his family kept several birds in their home. Apparently a Caique named Charlie and a Meyers named Banjo were among his favorites.

There are several videos on line of Deluise playing quite lovingly with Charlie. Also, last December ET broadcast an interview from the Deluise family home throughout which Banjo, the Meyers, sits perched on the Comedian's shoulder. In the background of the same video if you look closely there appears to be a cockatiel sitting on top of his cage. What's more you hear bird sounds in the background during much of the video.

A bird rescue group in Orange County is among those charities that the family has suggested one donate to in memory of the comedian.

I heard it on the radio this morning on my way to work.. Such a funny man! I loved some of his movies. He was hysterical. He just went up another notch now that I know he's a birdie man..
