Question GCC's and Mosquito's.. Insects

HI!

I am just wondering what you guys do or if its even a worry when you take your GCC (or other Parrots) outside for the day or evening and its insect time.. Mosquito's... Flies.... Bee's... and other flying insects

Should we be doing anything special when we take him out of the house?
Any advise and/or input would be very much appreciated! (as always!)

Thanks and have a happy Monday!

Good question! I've never really worried about biting insects... And I live in Mosquito country! That being said - I do sometimes wonder myself about picking up mites or something like that from and outing... It has never happened to me - but I wonder if I'm just lucky...

NotEnoughTime.. I was hoping you would answer my post! THANKS!
I hadn't really thought of it either until a friend asked me what I was going to do to prevent any problems. We have tons of mosquitos in Toronto too but hopefully its not going to be a problem!

I wouldn't want to go out myself at peak mosquito time and wouldn't want to take the birds out either. They don't have much bare skin and are pretty protected from bites compared to bare human skin! We have mosquitos in the summer rainy season, and two of our birds are outside year round on a covered terrace, as are many parrots here. Wild parrots are outdoors too in mosquito and bug country. I tend not to worry too much.

Well... Gosh... Thanks...

I think chapala's point is a good one. My conure is native to South American areas that have malaria problems and a good deal more issues with insects than we have here in North America...
