Oh my gosh I am so sorry for your loss. Accidents happen and I'm so very sorry this one ended badly for you.

I use a "Birdie Binkey" for my Parrotlet and Budgie. It has pieces of fleece tied onto a ring with an open center. The Budgie likes to sleep in the center of it, the P'let snuggles up to it. It's placed on the highest perch where the birds sleep. I think it's safe, and haven't heard of any problems with it.

Sorry for your loss. One of my suns is the only one who uses one, but I will keep my eye out.

thank you for sharing this with us

we had a giant cardboard tube they roll carpets in and we cut that up
and drilled holes to hang in their home
my quaker and conure slept in their together

we ran out of those as they need to be thrown out every so often
and now im using a small shipping box thats open on both ends
and may advance to a big but short pvc pipe that i can clean

We don't use one because the breeder we bought the bird from told us of the same exact story happening to someone, instead we use a cozy corner.

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about your bird. That's terrible.

As an fyi, I have a birdy binky as well, and my conure loves it! She sleeps in the middle, leaning on to one side. It's so cute! I thought it would provide her with "shelter" without seeming too much like a nest, and it seems safe.

I'm sorry you lost your baby. What a sad thing to happen.
I had a small red one, I think it was the same type as yours. I put it in with my handicap jenday so he would have a place to rest. The next morning I found him struggling to untangle his foot from the string. He completely removed the thread that was used to sew it together. He was upset when I removed it but if he had been tangled long or had it gotten around his neck....I shudder even thinking about it.
