Question A little help with training!

I need help with training Petrie. He is stubborn to step up even though he knows how to. I want him to step up and stay on my hand untill i put him down. Right now when i get him on he will jump off right after he gets the treat. I still haven't gotten him to accept hands. The only time that he will is when there is food in them or when he is on my hand. Any tips or hints or any pages i can go to. Thank you so much, i really need the help.

Reward him anytime he steps up and stays on your hand. Sounds like he's figured out if he steps up, he gets a treat and has it down pat. Now reinforce him staying there. Since he may be a little apprehensive about hands yet, reward him big time with lots of verbal praises along with the treats. They know verbal praise and thrive on it.

Also a technique I use with my macaws is when they get fussy about stepping up, I approach them and ask them to step up onto my hand backwards.. sometimes Elliot is more comfortable with this than stepping forward onto my hand. Maybe having them step up from behind will appear less threatening to him..
