Plants safe for birds

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what kind of plant this is. I'd like to know if it's safe for birds, but I have no name and I can't find it on the interenet. I have rid my house of any plant that is not bird-safe, except this one. I hope it's safe because it's so easy to keep alive! It can grow in just water, and in soil, tollerates heat, survives drought (forget to water) and has some nice colors. I had just put this one in a pot.

Ok, here is his response:

Always happy to answer any plant questions.
The photo is most definately an orchid. Either a Cattleya or Dendrobium. Most likely a Cattleya from what I can see of the leaf and the purple underside. As to the exact type of Cattleya orchid, that I could not tell you without seeing a flower, and even then, it would be pretty difficult to tell.
Definately bird safe.

Wow, thanks so much! Hmmmm.....I don't think it's an orchid. It doesn't flower. Unless it's supposed to flower, but I've never seen a flower come off of it. Or have I? I just looked it up and if it bloomed flowers like that, I'd remember! Very pretty! I'll see if I can post another picture of it, which might help with identification.

I have had orchids that never flower. Or they flowered and then died and never flowered again. Orchids, I found, are not my specialty.

One other thing it could be is an Oncidium orchid, but still betting on the Cattleya.
Bottom line: orchid!

Tell David thank you! I think I'm going to go with his expertise and say "Hooray orchid!" They are on the "safe" list! I wonder if it will ever flower.
