need recommendation for floor covering

Hello! Jezebel likes to spend a lot of time walking around my apt. Every time I see her poop on the rug I immediately run over and clean it up. Nevertheless, it's left a lot of discoloration on my rug and it looks terrible.

Can anyone recommend a good idea for replacing the rug with something better for hiding poop cleaning stains?

I put plastic down in most of the bird room. It's just regular plastic on a roll from the hardware store. it works well, much easier to clean.

that would surely do it, Astrid. But I'm hoping there's something which wouldn't need anything to cover it. Maybe like a certain material in rugs that takes a lot of abuse?

I can only suggest getting a carpet cleaner, and if possible, wait for the poop to dry first so you don't scrub it into the carpet when you try to remove it... Once you remove said dried poop, *THEN* clean the area...

Thanks Monica. I was cleaning it up as soon as she did it. I'll try waiting for it to dry~

An inexpensive bissell carpet cleaner from wal-mart works well for cleaning small areas of carpets...

No matter what you decide to use, get yourself a nice piece of linoleum at Home depot.

I have hardwood floors in my computer room. I cleaned and waxed etc then bought a piece of linoleum that is made to look like a wood floor, and placed it under my cages. Unless you REALLY LOOK, you cannot see where the floors end and the linoleum begins! It is fantastic looking and cleans up VERY WELL!

Girly,

I recommend using indoor-outdoor carpeting. Let poo dry, then simply vaccum up, you may need to scrape the poo a little with edge of vaccum hose or a crevice tool. Works great. No cleaners needed. Pick a color that allows the fresh poo to blend in, for the most part, with the color of the carpet.
