poor birds

Theres a pet store close to me and they have had an amazon there for a few yrs. Last time i was there (last yr) he broke my heart. So distant didnt want any interaction at all and was in this tiny filty cage.
So i go back today and hes still there. Just sits there, really quiet when i approched him he hissed at me so i just let him be. But now they have another bird there. An African grey. She was more friendly and when i talked to her she came over for a scratch she just seemed to love the attention i gave her. But in her tiny too small cage 1 perch, 1 ring toy, and budgie seed mixed with some sunflower seeds. I feel so bad for her. Perhaps i can sneak her some veggies!
I would love to bring her home but like my husband says they will just get another one to replace her. I did ask the woman how long she had been there and got any unfriendly " long time". And that was that.

There is a small petstore that I used to like that has bigger birds. They are usually in poor feather in not so clean cages. They had a Too at one point that had been there for a 'long time' because he was 'mean'. It's a shame. I got mine from a different petstore, but my Sun had been there awhile I guess because he was about 10 months when I got him. Their GCC's sell fast, but the Suns don't so much. Last week I went in and they had a new baby sun. Made me really sad, but they do at least keep it clean and interact with the birds and teach them 'step up' and stuff....
