Maybe someone accidentally frightened him with their hands and he hasn't gotten over it. Food bribery is an excellent way to help him get back to normal. Get a treat that he really loves (like millet spray) and let him eat it from your hand. If necessary you can use a long piece of millet that lets him nibble without getting too close to the hand.

Have you watched his body language when you have him out holding him? Maybe you have held him longer than he wanted, and he has started to avoid hands as a result? As mentioned above, bribery with small pieces of millet spray can make you very popular!
