Question Black budgie. Is there such a thing?

Not anthracite, not black face, but an all black budgie?

Would breeding a slate bird with a blackface create this mutation?
I mean if an all white bird can be bred, why not an all black bird?
Wouldn't that be a sight?

i know they ahve gray bugies but i have not seen a black one yet lol.

This is just about as close as you can get... and the budgies will be blackest as chicks, since they'll molt into those white facial patches.


There's a couple other pics in this thread...
What't the real difference?

I think that bird looks like it's a photo negative of a normal budgie!

yes, my neighbour had one, it was meant to be grey but became very dark with age, not quite black but very very close
