My mother killed my budgie, Lucky, one summer when I was younger when I was visiting my dad because she didn't listen to me when I told her to give him fresh food and seed DAILY. She just saw millet husks in his dish and he starved to death. :(
My fiance's mom did the EXACT same thing to one of his budgies too.

That's a great idea! I could watch Venus for you in return

Great outcome, well not initially, but for finding someone to watch your fids! I took Skyy with me to Chicago for my dad's wedding I was there for 5 days and must have been asked by at least 10 people why I brought my bird with me! I had to carefully explain to them that if I didn't Skyy would throw out all her food and have a fit in her cage if she can't be let out daily! Everyone was very surprised.
I wasn't able to spend as much time as normal with her, but still got her out of her cage a couple hours a day which is better than nothing
I have also caught my grandma doing her nails right next to the bird cage
Non bird people just don't understand *sigh*

seriously, get over it, i love my birds and would never treat them in that way but a starve day or two can be benificial to an animal, remember animals are healthiest in a situation that is as natural as possible and do go without food quite often naturally. if he was hungry enough he would have eaten the pullets. dont worry so much.

Even though I dont have my grey yet. I have to say that is exactly how I felt about my kids when they were babies. No one could take care of them better than me. Even my mother. I tried to let her sit once. I would rather sit home with my kids knowing they are being taken care of my way than to leave them with someone who maybe wont do take care of them the same. I know that sounds funny maybe. Now they are old enough to stay by thereselfs. my youngest is 13 . Thank Goodness. I have 6 chihuahua's so we really dont go anywhere which is fine with me. because I just dont feel comfortable leaving them with someone else...And I know I will take care of my grey the same way.. So I know exactly what you are saying and I would have been very upset. Sorry you had to go through that.
