Well I like to be prepared. If I did get another bird it would in a few moths at least and I've been doing just what you said...getting to know Peanut. But birds are so addicting!

From personal experience, not that I own one, but baby quakers are very very hands on, I was playing with one I'd just met and when I started scratching his head, he nuzzled into my hand and promptly fell asleep. I only just managed to not buy him- he was so gorgeous!
You never know- you might just find your next parrot at the top of your driveway (that happened to me!)

Not all quakers are noisy and pushy. I have a green quaker, Jacob and he is my sweetest bird. He will step up for anyone and cuddle with anyone. He does talk very well, when he wants to and is not noisy at all. Again this is just my one quaker. I also have a rose crown conure who talks a little bit and is pretty nice, for a conure.
Have you thought about a poicephalus? They are great especially the mayers parrot.
They are indipendant but are cuddly when you want to cuddle. They aren't very loud and can learn to speak in their oh so cute poicephalus voices.

Just a thought

Melanie
