Ugh...So confused on What to get
Today I went to the bird store for some toys and what caught my eye but a cute little cinnamon green cheek conure. So I've had Peanut a while and was thinking about getting another bird in a few months. I want either a Quaker or a green cheek. I want a talker but I don't want a one person bird. I also want a cute funny cuddly clown that will entertain me. My 'tiel is learning his first words (kinda) but he is definately NOT cuddly, but loves a good head scratch. Any thing else I should consider? Which should I get.

Quakers are generally a one-on-one bird, they are really good talkers and are quite cuddly.
Another thing to consider is noise.. they're VERY noisy, and I mean very. Keiko's screams are ear pericing, but we're used to it now, lol. So if you live in a unit/apartment it's probably not a good idea.GCC's I can't say.. I'm getting my first one soon, but from what I've read and heard about them, they're very playful, fun, cuddly, full of energy and some will talk, but apparently not as good as Quakers. Both are really cute, funny and cuddly. But if you want a talker, you're best off going with a Quaker.

I heard that a lot of Quakers learn several phrases. Are they the best talkers of the small birds?

I am getting a Noble Macaw this saturday, he is a little larger than my Sun/Dusky conure, he is only 4 months old and the breeder tells me that he can already say a few words, he seems like he is a bit cuddly as well. the only draw back is he is rather expensive and the nobles are a bit harder to find although my breeder says that they have a new clutch of eggs if you are interested. The Noble is the last bird on my sig pic his name is Yoda

Yoda is a cutie but I think mini macaw such as a Hahn's or Noble is a few years off!

Both will be "one person birds" although both can be trained to accept other people. And in the end - the bird you decide on may be totally different than from my experience. If you want another bird then you just have to accept that. Good luck! |

Thanks. I think when i say "talker" I just mean something that will probably learn a word or two. I have heard of Quakers who pick up words really fast and know many phrases.

Don't rush to get another parrot -- you've barely had Peanut for 3 months, right? Take the next few months (or years, even!) to get to know him.
Not trying to imply that you aren't ready or aren't able to care for another parrot at this time. I just think if you're undecided as to what species to get, it might be best to wait. Best of luck!
