Natural lighting, UVB bulbs?

Does anybody here use special lighting like UVB bulbs for your birds? Have you noticed any health or other benefits?

I have been thinking about getting a "natural" lighting system set up when I get my new cage and am curious if anybody has any input!

That's a great question. Also, what about an automatic misting system?

I've done it the cheap and easy way...
I use a clip on lamp from Lowe's....10 bucks...and I buy the featherbrite bulbs uva/uvb...Total cost is about 30 bucks a cage ( for the little guys..lovebirds and budgies)

I don't use it EVERYDAY....I forget...but have I noticed a difference? I do believe so....definitely you'll notice that their plummage is more vibrant...almost iridescent...

You can buy the fancy lights and put them over the cage...they'll run you quite a bit more and for me, with 4 cages, that wasn't going to happen.

I don't know about an automatic mister...I just grab a water bottle and spray away. That is certainly something I can do a few times a week for free.

I use the featherbrite system. With regular room light bulbs, Boo never really reacted to them. But when the featherbrite system turned (I have it set to a timer so it turns on and off at specific times), he perked right up and became more active. Whatever it does, it does something. ^^

I use them, but usually after my boys have had a shower. I think it does help with their feather condition while they are preening and drying under the light.

What about placing it on a timer?

I saw the mister on eBay and wondered is anyone used it. Seems like a cool idea.
