quick Hahn's question
I have a super quick question. I have been emailing with someone on CL about a hahn's. They told me it was only 11 or 12 weeks, the owner and BF are splitting up. Anyway, they sent me a pic today, and the bird has a developed an orange colored eye already. What age do they develop the color? I know what age my zo ndid, and my baby grey is still grey. I don't think the bird is nearly as young as they say now

That is really young. I'd ask how long they've had it. Maybe they mistyped weeks instead of months?

Does it have "red" on its shoulders yet?

I just looked back at some photos I took of Beaker when he was exactly 3 months old, and in the flash, his eye was already lighter brown (I don't think of Hahns eyes as orange at all, maybe it's the photo?). The major "tell" will be if his shoulders are red, or still green. Red doesn't start really coming in until around a year old.

I went back and looked at the pics, and he sure does have a lot red on his shoulders.

A younger Hahns will have some red feathers on the inside of the wing and maybe some around the edges, but shouldn't be showing any on the outside/top of the shoulders until they are older.
