Hello from VT!

Greetings!

As all of you are, I am a bird lover too.
Previously I've had a couple birds, mostly tiels when I was younger.
And I rescued a 15yr old parrotlet, And he lived until he was 20. (RIP baby)
After that I told myself to take a little break,
because I was heartbroken after baby died.

So now I've decided that I would like (actually...love) a bird again.

I've been thinking about another P'let and theres a breeder in town who is offering good prices.

But I honestly don't think I can have another P'let and not constantly think of baby.

So I really would like to get a bigger bird, from a baby.
I've rescued all my birds.

I would like to know any suggestions??
And maybe I'm being to much of a crybaby on the whole P'let thing..

Sorry that was really long!!!
Thank you for reading it and helping!

Welcome to BB, neighbor! (I'm located in NH)

I'm not really sure as far as to what type of bird to suggest... what are you looking for? Something to train & do tricks? A bird content with just hanging out watching tv, or something a bit more involved, that requires more effort? I know I've got guys from all over the spectrum so it really does depend on what type of time you will be interested in spending together. For example, Harley loves to be cuddled... you could never cuddle her too much. Murphy likes to hang out together in the kitchen together, tasting food as you cook, play the copy each other's sounds game, watch youtube, watch tv, & walk around the house like a puppy... cuddling is totally unacceptable, however, you do NEED to interact with her (and if you are slacking, she WILL let you know). Moo-shoo & Rigby want to perch on or near you all the time, Moo's not a fan of being touched, however doesn't like to be ignored, now... Rigby wants you to be a mind reader & to be ignored when the mood strikes her. If you so much as say "Hi" when she wants to be ignored, she'll chirp at you until the paint peels from the crown molding. Helio and Fuji love to be actively played with... they are both sponges for learning. Fuji is physical, he likes to wrestle. Helio will pick up a word I say once from 3 rooms away. Both Fuji and Helio love "puzzle-type toys" they want to have to study and practice to learn to do anything. They also will quite often refuse a snack if handed to them, as they want to work for it.

Sorry for the long response, however I really feel that it makes a difference. I read so many times that our parrots need however many hours out of cage time, but I also feel the type of cage time a parront is interested in spending with their feathered friend is equally as important. It's not all that different from breeds of dogs, in a sense... a beagle is usually pretty happy as a couch potato (from my exp) as long as they are near their owner. Now, a Jack Russell Terrier needs a challenging work-like type of play time in order to keep it's active little mind busy & to keep itself out of "trouble".

Well at any rate, welcome to BB! There is a lot of really wonderful people that I'm sure will be more than willing to help.

Best wishes & good luck on your decision!!

I can't add anything to Mabird's response. She said it all. Think about what you are hoping for as to time and attention because there are general suggestions people will be able to make.

Haha yes, thank you experts!
And thank you hsmoscout for calling them, lol.
Well I'm looking for a cuddle buddy, one where I can spend my day with and will be out on its perch all day. Noise level, I honestly don't care at this point, I was thinking about Senegals, conures, ekkies, etc.
Who knows, I need to research, but I love other peoples stories as well.

And thank you so much Mabird.
You're help means alot.
