Did you get him from a breeder or was he a re home? If he is rehomed they the prior owners could have take the band off. I had to take my macaws off cause it was digging into his foot!

Often people will have a bird's band taken off if it bothers the bird. Stewie didn't have a band when I got him, and at first I was thinking that I should get him re-banded, but the consensus seemed to be that there's no point.
I don't think it really means anything, other than that the bird's band was removed at some point. It's not necessarily a bad thing. p.s. He's a cutie!

I have read of some breeders not banding at all either. I'm not sure what the laws are regarding if a bird HAS to have a band or not.
