Angry HurtTheHubby!!!!!

Everyday when I get home from work I make sure that I take Shakti out and she just hangs out with us while we prepare dinner, eat dinner, watch tv, read, etc..... (In the last week I have been noticing that she has been more loving than usual to him). I was talking to her and said "Shakti, because of the rain I have not been able to put you outside for some fresh air, perhaps this weekend". So my husband pipes in and says "Well I have been taking her out everyday when it stops raining" so I said "How are you doing that as her outside cage is in the shed" and he said "Oh I just put her on my finger and take her for a little walk around the yard". I almost fainted!

The man has been taking her out (she has her wings clipped but so what!) on his finger--no harness---no nothing---. He explained to me how much she loves it and she never tries to fly away...anyway, he is grounded, he is not to touch MY BIRD when I am not home! I was so upset with the what if's!

I told reminded him there are !!!!!RULES AND REGULATIONS!!!! when it comes to MY Shakti!

Of course I have ruined there little outing....I told him I was ordering a flight suit for her immediatly and then he could go on his little walk-a-abouts with MY baby! UGHHHH!

Tell me about it. I went to a company picnic with a friend (I'll call him Stupid) and took Shrek (in his flight suit) his carrier was left in the car. When we got ready to leave... and as I was stepping out from under our company canopy I noticed that there was a flock? of HAWKS out side directly over us circling. I refused to step out from under the canopy with Shrek uncovered and found a towel and covered him. Stupid said, "They don't want your bird."

I told him.."Sometimes it's best to keep your mouth shut so that you don't reveal your ignorance!" Thankfully..I am NOT married to him so I can say what I please!!

Awww that is so cute that he is trying have have fun time with Shakti. Now he just needs to read some of the horror story posts where clipped birds are lost to updrafts or panic from an dog or loud noise outside. It is really nice that Shakti doesn't want to leave him when they are adventuring around, but the unforeseen does happen. It sounds he loves Shakti, so I think if he really knew the dangers he wouldn't be out there with him. Some times my hubby think he knows better, and minimizes the danger, then I make him read a story or two and he becomes extremely vigilant.

That is exactly what I did. I pulled up some stories and he read them. As I told him although Shakti might look domesticated she still had a wild side to her. It is not like the puppy he is training. At least, as I told him, with the puppy you can run after him, with Shakti I would like to see him trying to fly?!?!?!?

I read a great article about the problems with pet parrots and getting loose.... because they are used to seeing things at a level of no more that 10 feetish in our homes, when they get out and go up, even thought they want to return to their flock (us), everything suddenly looks so different they can't get their bearing straight. Makes sense hey?
