The Healthy Bird cookbook?

I've been thinking about getting this....mainly for the recipes. I know that this stuff is online, I just like the comfort of a good book ^^

I've seen mixed reviews though. Opinions? Are the recipes plentiful and safe?

If I shouldn't go for it...then I need to make my own book, so any links to lots of recipes and things would help too!

You can check out the links section or perhaps the Nutritional forum as there's a lot of great stuff there, too!

I use the book more for the information than the recipes since I'm not really all that into feeding my birds mac and cheese, or something else. However, I have a time or two used the recipes.

I haven't looked at the book, but have heard that some of the ingredients in at least some of the recipes aren't the healthiest for birds. You probably could adapt the recipes if you used the book for ideas. Remember, fresh, whole foods, no refined grain products, no Jiffy cornbread mix, no sugar, no extra fat.

I have the book and am not impressed.

There are some good ideas but I don't like some of the ingredients.

Good for ideas and I'll leave it at that.

Thanks guys! Think I'm gonna make my own book with the stuff I find in the links. ^^ What I really need a comprehensive list of safe and unsafe foods....I remember the biggies off the top of my head (for unsafe), but I'm always paranoid about it...can't help it!

I have the book, and it is great for ideas and as a starting point to think up recipes, but I have never actually used the book to cook anything out of. Bird.com has it for $3.00, so I was not too worried with how much I spent on it, lol.

as tracy, i like it for ideas - find myself substituting a lot to make the recipes more according to my taste (sometimes too much fat and sugar, white flour etc)... but for ideas it's great. haven't regretted getting it
